Is Stardew Valley Worth Getting on Mobile?

-

Having played Harvest Moon on PSP many years ago, we’ve always tried to search for the game that could give us the same laidback farm-life experience that’s very hands-on yet very relaxing. We’ve tried many farm games, but to no avail, it can’t give us the same thing. We’ve heard about Stardew Valley for quite a while, but we only gave it a try a few months ago. There are two versions – PC/console and mobile. We’ve tried both, but we’ve been seeing questions online asking if the mobile version is worth it compared to the PC or console editions. So, is Stardew Valley on mobile a good choice? Let’s dive into the details and share our experience.

For starters, Stardew Valley is worth getting on mobile. If you’ve ever watched a farm movie on streaming services where they take care of all the crops, animals, and construction, it’s what you literally do in this game — which makes it very entertaining. Here’s why we think this game is worth getting on mobile:

  1. It’s very convenient to play.

Since you’re playing on your mobile phone, which you take anywhere with you, it means you also get to play your farm anytime and anywhere you like. This is the biggest advantage of Stardew Valley mobile over PC, since you can’t take your PC anywhere with you. You have to keep in mind though that the mobile version doesn’t have the co-op option, so the game is entirely offline. It’s a good thing, but it’s also a not-so-good thing for those who are looking forward to the co-op feature.

  1. It automatically chooses the right tool depending on the action desired.

Unlike the PC/console version where you need to choose the right tool first before doing the action, the mobile version automatically chooses the tool for you as long as it is in your inventory. So for example, if you want to harvest wheat, you simply need to tap on the wheat, and the game will automatically use the sickle for you, provided you have one in your inventory.

This feature makes farming tasks much faster and more convenient, especially for new players who might find managing tools a bit overwhelming. It’s the type of game you can play even while you’re watching DIRECTV, for example. It’s that chill!

  1. It has auto-hit option in the mines.

Fighting monsters in the mines on PC/console can be a bit challenging — we used to hate doing this but since it’s needed for the tasks, we have no choice but to keep doing it. But in the mobile version, this is much easier because there’s an auto-hit option. It’s an excellent feature because due to the nature of phones (small screens), it’ll be a difficult to constantly tap whenever you need to attack monsters.

As we’ve said earlier, most parts of the game can be played while doing other stuff, like watching Flex TV or Netflix or talking to friends. It’s something you can play at the end of a tiring day at school or work so your mind can take a break.

  1. It’s not a high-maintenance game.

While this is applicable to both versions, we just really appreciate how low maintenance the game is. It’s not the type of game where you miss out on a lot of stuff even after not playing for a period of time. You can play it at your own place and take breaks without feeling like you’re missing out on a lot of stuff.

Wrapping Up

Stardew Valley is worth getting on mobile due to its portability, convenience, and added features that aren’t available on the PC/console. While it may lack multiplayer and have minor limitations due to the smaller screen, the mobile version still delivers the full charm and depth of the original game. If you’re thinking of purchasing the mobile version, we highly approve! Enjoy!
